Q   What do you enjoy most about working for the school?
A   I really love the students.  I serve everyone from Headstart through Seniors and enjoy seeing them grow, not only as students but as people.  Trying to find the right books for those who aren't necessarliy into reading is always a challenge but when they finally find something it's very rewarding.  Also seeing those students who have a desire to be lifelong learners is especially satisfying.  I can't leave out that working with some of the best educators and colleagues is a real pleasure as well.

Q   If you could do any job (anywhere) for just one day, what would you do?
A   I think I'd choose pediatrician for a day.  Medicine was always in the back of my mind when I first started college but my love for teaching and children drew me into the field of education so a doctor for children would be my dream job for a day.

Q  What three words would people use to describe you?
A  Patient, Loving, Devoted

Q  What is the best vacation you've ever taken?
The best vacations are the ones where all of my family have been able to go. The more the merrier is my motto. When my kids were younger we took a trip to Panama City Beach and had over 50 family and friends go. Everyone had such a good time. I love beach trips!

Q  What is your favorite book?
I really enjoyed the book "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens and have heard that the movie is great as well so I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Q  What is something that might surprise readers to learn about you?
A  In high school I showed dairy cattle and had to milk my dairy cows by hand every morning and every night. I wouldn't reccommend it, lol.

Q  What are your hobbies and interests?
A  I like to spend time with my family.  I enjoy doing chalk art, baking, shopping and reading (especially with my grandbaby).

Most of Shelley’s extended family live in the Lincoln County area and there are a lot of them. She said since COVID they haven't been able to get together as much as theu used to and she misses that. Her immediate family includes her husband of 35 years, Royce, their five children: Whitney and her husband Dillon, Shelbey, Tyler and his wife Mari, Hunter and Tanner, and her sweet grandboys Cristian and Nolan. She likes getting out and watching softball, football, basketball and baseball, especially teams that include her nieces, nephews, cousins and grandson. Shelley says watching her children and grandchildren grow and be successful in life, as well as being loving and kind people is what she enjoys the most!
