Davenport Public School would like to announce “Books for Bulldogs”.  This is a new opportunity for your child to have access to books over the summer break.  Our school recognizes the importance for our students and other children within our community to have access to books.  A recent article printed by Sanford Newman’s “American’s Child Care Crisis” states that the most successful way to improve reading achievement of rural children is to increase their access to print.  This is the exact intent of this program.  “Books for Bulldogs” is a book circulation and exchange program that will allow children to take a book home to enjoy, and leave one in its place if possible.  The “Books for Bulldogs” drop box will be located at the main entrance of the elementary school, and will be open for circulation the last week of school!  There will be books available for grades Pre-K through 6th.  Some books will be AR, so take advantage of getting a head start on AR points!
