Mission Statement:
The mission of the Davenport High School Counseling Program is to advocate for students and facilitate an environment and atmosphere that supports high achievement and positive growth for all students. My mission is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program for all students. My goal is to meet the academic, emotional/social, and career readiness needs of students.

Vision Statement:
All students of Davenport High School are empowered to strive for academic excellence, exhibit readiness to accomplish career goals, and attain positive personal/social skills needed to reach their fullest potential. Students will achieve short and long term goals, as well as successfully manage their lives as healthy, responsible, and mindful citizens who respect themselves and others. Students will actively engage in pursuing growth academically, emotionally, and socially. Students will be aware of social responsibilities, and possess communication skills needed to impact the community in which they live in for the better. Students will develop skills that promote learning and well-being academically, emotionally, and socially. Students will use resources to help prepare them for the future. Students will maintain positive and supportive relationships through continuous self-reflection and development of their social, emotional and physical well-being.

Meet the counselor
A little bit about me: Cathy Lakey-HS Counselor
Educational Background:
I graduated High School in 1994 from Konawa, OK. Yay, Tigers! I received a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Baptist University. I have a master’s degree in reading education from Northeastern State University. I also have a master’s degree in school counseling from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. I am a member of the American School Counselors Association, as well as the Oklahoma School Counseling Association. I also teach 3rd – 8th grade reading, language arts and spelling. I am a reading specialist. I have certifications in health, physical education, recreation and elementary education, reading specialty, and school counseling. I have also had the opportunity to teach art and music. I started teaching at Davenport High School in the fall of 2007. I am currently the high school counselor at Davenport High School.
Family Background:
I am married to Matt Lakey. He teaches at Davenport Public School. We have 7 children. Cade, Cadie, Maddie, Cal, Casey, Ty and Nick. Casey plays football at Emporia State University in Kansas. Go Hornets!! Cade is also an football GA at ESU and working on a masters degree in education. His wife Tori is a special ed teacher at Emporia Middle School. Cadie is an RN at OU Children NICU. Maddie played basketball for UCO and is finishing up her teaching degree at Panhandle State University. Cal is attending Seminole State College pursuing a coaching/education degree. She is married to Jaedon Whitfield who is currently coaching at Balko High School. Nick attended Central Tech and is working in the energy field. Ty just finished up . We have 3 lovely dogs. Ophie, Goose, and Vader (Darth). I love to garden, paint, read, take pictures, cook, and watch football, track and basketball. I love spending time with my family.
